Introduction
When I was around 2 years old my parents took me to Paris. I of course remember nothing about this trip but 17 years later I went there again on a concert trip. I love travelling I've been doing it as long as I can remember, when I was younger we would travel in the summer to someplace warm and in the winter to northern Sweden from ski trips. Having the opportunity to travel is one of the things I am the most grateful for being able to do. The biggest trips have been USA and Japan. I also went solo to Korea for 3 weeks to live with a host family.
The big three USA, Japan and Korea.
USA
The biggest trips I've ever been on are USA (New York, Arizona, Florida and California), Japan and Korea. I went to the US when I was a kid it was really cool. Back then my only impression of America was from the "How I met your mother" sitcom. On our first night in New York there's was a fist fight right outside our hotel. We were all super jetlagged so we were awake all night. In the morning we went to the Empire State and looked at all the "tiny" buildings. Walking around in the city looking at stores we also saw the Statue of Liberty from afar. In California Went to universal studios and I got to play around in hogwarts and meet my favorite characters from Harry Potter. In Arizona I got to meet my mothers host family from back when she studied abroad in the US. They lived in a pilot neighborhood so everyone has their own plane and hangar. I got to fly grandpa Chucks plane and shoot a gas tank with an airsoft pistol.
Japan
About 6 years later we went Japan. It's was awesome. I've always had an interest for Japan. The culture is very different but in someways similiar to certain aspects of Swedish culture. In Japan we went to Tokyo and Kyouto. We got to eat Kobe Beef the juiciest meat you'll ever bite into. It melts just in your mouth. We went to Tokyo tower and I played arond with a kid on the floor window, (imagine if we fell through). I spoke my first bit of Japanese with a japanese person. They were really nice even though I just asked were they toilet was for my brother. We went to the Emperor's palace and look at Samurai armor. Because of starvation and the only source of food being protein a lot of samurai's were really short so they would have helmets with big long horns on them to appear taller with faces of demons. Every country has a certain feel and smell I definitely miss the feeling of Japan and I for certain want to go back. The streets are clean crime is low people are nice, cities are big and the countryside is beautiful. I recommend travelling to Japan If you have the chance.
Korea
The most recent and impactful trip, Korea. I flew to Korea alone without and prior knowledge of the language to study at a exchange student mini-school and live with at host family. The trip there was pretty crazy. When I was in Helsinki there was 3 hours left until my flight but I was so stressed out thinking I might miss my flight so I walked around in circles in the airport until there was only 40 minutes left and I had to order Burger King and shove it down, anyway. In Korea I met my host family, Seo Gabsoo, Lily and their 2 year old baby Juwon. The first few days were crazy. I got up at 06:00 in the morning ate breakfast and traveled to the inner city Seoul and finished school some days at 18:00, I got home around 19:00. One day I got lost because it was dark out and all the apartment buildings are copy pasted to look the same. I got lost scared a lady by speaking English (Kkamjjagiyah! = You surprised me!) and my phone died so I thought I was screwed. I walked 3 bus stops and somehow found myself home at 21:00. That was a long day. The Korea trip was different because I got to live like a student. Taking the train everyday using their money (won) and buying banana, chocolate or strawberry milk (I dont even like banana but banana milk is surprisingly good!) I felt a bit Korean. It ate so many different kinds of food and learnt to read hangul I can still read about 80% of the letters, I wish I had to learn more words thoughs. The school used really old and uneffective teaching methods (it's all about compreshensive input folks). Korea helped me gain some confidence and solo travel experience. I wanted to visit my Korean family again and give Korean a more honest and effective try.
